Taking a stand against back pain
After a fender-bender in 2012, Day Martin started to notice she had some back pain after a day of sitting at work—even though it was fine on the weekends. Internet research led her to standing desks, but they all cost thousands or wouldn’t fit in a cubicle. She also wasn’t even sure she’d like using one. Day went DIY-style instead, cobbling together various iterations of standing desk from boxes and plastic bins. They did the trick, and caught her colleague’s eyes—she saw an opportunity. She worked with her father-in-law to create some proper prototypes, and launched her first product on Amazon a year after the accident.
